National Sewing Month Is Here!

Posted by Deirdre Quirk on Sep 1st 2016

It's our favorite time of year again! September is National Sewing Month, and you know what that means... a chance to start new projects, finish old pieces, learn new techniques, and share your love of sewing with family and friends (plus free projects and giveaway galore!).

To kick things off with a bang, we've rounded up ten of our favorite free projects from the blog's archives, including everything from pot holders to wall quilts to bags. We're also giving away a fantastic bundle of books and fabric—scroll down to the bottom for more details!

Try out Shannon Brinkley's signature scrappy appliqué style in these  throw pillows.

This  gathered zipper pouch from Sue Kim makes the perfect little gift.

These  fast and easy fat-quarter pot holders are one of our most popular projects.

Finish this  typewriter quilt from Heidi Staples in an afternoon!

Use the  peaceful dove pincushion as a pincushion—or as an ornament or cute toy.

This  pansy block project comes with instructions on single foundation piecing.

Babies on the Way combines free-motion embroidery, hand embroidery, and photo transfer.

Erin Hentzel shares a pattern for doll-size  hip zip bags

Or make a bag for yourself—how about this  kraft-tex carryall tote?

This  fall mini quilt was created by Heather Kojan for last year's National Sewing Month.

And what about that giveaway? Well, we're giving away not one, but three books, plus three fat quarter bundles to match!  Because I Love You SewPerfect Patchwork Bags, and Sew Home are the prefect complements to a Moda Country Orchard Fat Quarter Bundle, a Moda Compositions Basic Grey Fat Quarter Bundle, and a Dear Stella Desert Bloom Bundle. Enter here: a Rafflecopter giveaway. Open to US residents only; winner will be announced one week from now on the blog.

Happy sewing!
