Welcome to Installment #3 of Kim Diehl’s Mystery Stitch-Along! Read below to find directions for cutting and piecing fabric.

Cutting

From each of 6 assorted bitty bricks, cut:

  • 1 strip, 2 1⁄2" × 10 1⁄2"; from this strip, cut:
    • 1 square, 2 1⁄2" × 2 1⁄2" (combined total of 6)
    • 2 squares, 1 1⁄2" × 1 1⁄2" (combined total of 12)
  • 1 strip, 1 1⁄2" × 10 1⁄2"; crosscut into 6 squares, 1 1⁄2" × 1 1⁄2" (total of 8 with previously cut squares; a combined grand total of 48)
  • Organize the 2 1⁄2" and 1 1⁄2" squares by print into six Star sets.

From the assorted cream scraps, cut:

  • 24 rectangles, 1 1⁄2" × 2 1⁄2"
  • 24 squares, 1 1⁄2" × 1 1⁄2"

Instructions

  1. Using Simple Whatnots III, refer to the This and That project and follow the instructions for “1 Star Block” beginning on page 66 to piece one block from each star set for a total of six Star blocks. Use the assorted cream prints randomly.
