Fascinating look at some historical quilting
In 2012 Eric and Susan Knapp bought an old house in Bloomfield, Iowa with intention of tearing it down as it was in such a state of disrepair having been left vacant since the mid 70s. Before the demolition started Susan took a look around the house and found a discarded quilt which prompted her to search further. This book is based on nine of the quilts found in the tumbledown farmhouse and gives as much history as could be discovered about the quilts as well as patterns so you can reproduce them yourself. This book includes eighteen patterns as quilt designer Edie McGinnis has worked with Susan to produce two patterns based on each of the originals. The first being a recreation of the original quilts using reproduction fabrics and the second a modern adaptation using contemporary fabric. If you are interested in early 1900s American quilts this is a fascinating look at some historical quilting that could have so easily been lost.
