Perfect Piecing with Piece O' Cake Designs

One of the things I love most about Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins’ new book, Piecing the Piece O' Cake Way, Revised Second Edition, is that they make it so easy to be precise when you’re piecing with tons of helpful tips, techniques, and tricks.

Taking pinning, for instance. When you are nesting your seams (you do nest them, don’t you?), pin just to the far side of the pin so the seam doesn’t shift.

My favorite, though, is using positioning pins when you are matching points. Becky and Linda walk you through how to pin to get a perfectly aligned point–gotta love that!

Center points are aligned and match precisely.

Push positioning pin straight through point.

Keep pin perpendicular to block.

Use second pin next to positioning pin.

Leave positioning pin in as long as possible.

All the piecing techniques you need, plus great quilts to make, ranging from easy to more challenging. What more could you ask for?
