Paper Pieced Modern

Full disclosure here: I like to paper-piece (I know not everyone does). I love the way you can get perfect, pointy points, tiny accurate pieces, and consistent blocks. My 1/4˝ seams are not always 1/4, but with paper-piecing, I can still be perfect.

In her book, Amy GarroPaper Pieced Modern, giving you visual step-by-step paper-piecing basics, so anyone and everyone can use this technique. Projects range from easy to more challenging—there’s sure to be something for your skill level.

My fave is Icy Waters.

It is such a wonderful design and it uses just 2 different block patterns—everything else is just color placement—brilliant!

Diamonds and Emeralds II is another of my favorites

Amy is a master at using negative space, and this quilt with its contrast of color and shape, uses negative space so effectively.

You know how hard it can be to find a quilt for a guy, look no further than The Bachelor.

Masculine and sophisticated, it’s perfect for any man in your life. Change up the colors, and you still have the elegance and sophistication—a special gift for anyone or for yourself.

And to show you just a bit on Amy’s versatility, take a look at Faceted Jewels II.

If you’re an experienced paper-piecer, dive into Amy’s distinctive projects. If you are a beginner, hesitate no more and let Amy show you how.
