Mistletoe Gift Topper Project

'Tis the season, and the holidays are just around the corner! Don't worry, as it's never too late to infuse a touch of personal charm into your gifts. With a handful of materials and a dash of your time, whip up these adorable Mistletoe Gift Toppers! They're also a fun way to use up some green felt scraps you may have left over from another project. Elevate your presents with a handmade touch that speaks volumes of thoughtfulness!

Materials

  • 2’’ x 6’’ piece of Green wool-blend felt (or 4 smaller scraps at least ¾’’x 1 ½’’ each)
  • 3’’ piece of cloth wrapped floral wire. I’m using 18 gauge because that’s what I have, but 20 or 22 gauge would work for this as well
  • 2 wool poms (approx.. ½’’)
  • 8’’ of red velvet ribbon
  • 6’’ jute twine
  • 1 paper tag (you could also cut one from card stock)

Tools

  • Glue Gun
  • Glue Stick
  • Scissors

Instructions

1. Begin by cutting out your 4 leaves out of the green felt. You can free-hand these. Make each oval approximately 1 ½’’ long by ¾’’ wide.

2. Apply a small dab of glue to one end of a leaf and pinch it around the tip of one end of the wire.

3. Add a glue to a second leaf and pinch it onto the wire, slightly higher than the first leaf. While the glue is still warm and pliable, angle this leaf out slightly so it is not laying flat against the wire.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 on the other end of the wire.

5. Fold the wire in half to bring both ends together, overlapping one side over the other. This also creates a loop at the top.

6. Use one side to wrap around the bottom of the loop.

7. Add the berries: put a small dab of glue into the pucker of one leaf and press the wool ball into it. Add the other berry to a leaf on the other side.

8. Tie the ribbon into a bow around the top, just below the loop.

9. String the twine through the tag and the wire loop and tie it off.
