Magical Forest Fairy Crafts Through the Seasons Blog Tour

Each time a season changes, we celebrate with fairy crafts. Our books, Forest Fairy Crafts and Magical Forest Fairy Crafts Through the Seasons, are inspired by teaching in public school classrooms. Students observe the changing seasons and enjoy celebrating every season. As teachers, we know more crafts than could fit in one book. We had lots of ideas. So how did we choose what to put in our latest book?

We needed to include tutorials in the beginning similar to those the first book, while also sharing new ideas for children that owned the first book. We created new fairies with modern colors for the tutorials.

For each season, we created a new fairy family, of course. We included fancier gnomes, too, which were so fun to create.

We considered what made each season magical. What projects inspired kids year after year?

Children don’t see a craft as a finish line. In many ways, the craft is the beginning. They love to play, or explore, or decorate with their crafts.

For summer, especially, we shared crafts that were perfect for sewing on a hot afternoon, then invited active play once twilight cools the air. The shooting-star beanbag and rainbow ball are a perfect blend of sewing then playing afterwards. My son gives the shooting-star beanbag rave reviews because the ribbons “make it easier to catch.”

Magical Forest Fairy Crafts Through the Seasons collects crafts inspired by colors and activities popular for the time of year. It also invites children to explore lots of different ways to use crafts throughout the year. The lavender mouse may be in the chapter for spring, but would enjoy summer adventures as well. The leaf garland can be made with blossoms and greenery in summertime.

We delight in giving children and their families opportunities to slow down and appreciate the natural world. Fairy crafts activities are perfect for families at home, parties, or summer camps.

And, as teachers, we know that valuable learning happens when children are meaningfully engaged. Non-fiction and photographs support reading skills without making it feel like “homework.” The best learning happens while children are having fun.

The blog tour celebrating the release of Magical Forest Fairy Crafts Through the Seasons will be especially fun because, as we welcome summer, Clever Chameleon in Australia is welcoming winter. Seasons change yet enchanted crafts are always welcome. We’re excited to see what everyone creates!
