Decorating for the Changing Seasons

Decorating for the Changing Seasons

I love designing and decorating for the changing seasons, and Halloween and fall have always been favorites. I haven’t written a fall book before, so I really enjoyed designing the projects for Festive Fall Quilts. The book has a variety of projects for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the entire fall season. There are lap quilts, wall quilts, runners, place mats, and a selection of tea towels.

One of my favorite projects from the book is Autumn Splendor, which could be used as a wall quilt or a table topper. It finishes to 48” x 48”. It has a scrapp, pieced center surrounded by an appliquéd border. The colors just make me think of fall, and the black background on the appliquéd border really makes the fall motifs stand out.

Another favorite is the Sunflower. I have always liked sunflowers, and although this is a very simple design with a single sunflower, the scrappy pieced flower center adds interest to the design.

Just Batty and Spooky Spiders are two other favorites. They are both whimsical runners that were fast and fun to make and make a great addition to your Halloween decor.

I hope this collection of projects will inspire you to create and to celebrate the season.
