Appliqué the Piece O' Cake Way

Go on a creative journey with me as I share expert tips on perfect overlaying, stitching sequences, and more! This is your ticket to adding a touch of whimsy to your quilting adventures.
In the first part of the video, I show you how to take appliqué shapes off the block and get them ready to sew. You don’t need to place shapes in a pizza box, or on a fancy roll. The simplest and most compact way to carry appliqué blocks in-progress uses a file folder and piece of bamboo felt.
Cut the file folder to the size that works for you—I usually cut mine to 7˝ x 10˝. Cut bamboo felt to fit. Bamboo felt is smooth, very flat, and it holds the fabric in place neatly. If you can’t find it locally, I carry bamboo felt at pieceocake.com.
In the second part of the video, I show how to make a template so that you can accurately draw the antennae/antlers on the block. It’s a neat trick! If you have any questions, please email me: becky.pieceocake@gmail.com
