Class Description

• This quilt is designed for adventurous beginners to veteran quilters
• Students can make it in any size so it’s easy to customize
• You’ll learn machine appliqué, composition and how to work with freezer paper
• No need to worry about matching points! This is a fun project that is fat-quarter friendly and can use any kind of prints, from vintage feedsack to contemporary large-scale prints

Class Supplies

• Required text: Quilts Made Modern by Weeks Ringle & Bill Kerr
• Fabrics for circles and background
  (see pg 101 for yardage)
• C&T Quilters’ Freezer Paper Sheets
• General cutting tools
• General sewing supplies

Classroom Preparation
Each student will need the following:

• Sewing machine
• Cutting area
• Layout area

Students could share an ironing station

1. Discuss cutting strategies of large-scale prints
2. Teach how to make templates
3. Demonstrate circle freezer paper technique
4. Discuss composition
5. Demonstrate machine appliqué technique
6. Discuss quilting and binding strategies
