Cheryl Brickey

Cheryl Brickey began quilting in 2010 to make her then-toddler daughter a quilt for her first bed and has been quilting non-stop since. She was born and raised in New Jersey and now calls Greenville, South Carolina home, where she and her husband are raising their two children. Cheryl has a chemical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University and spends her days writing patent applications for a private textile and chemical company. She combines her technical writing, engineering, and math skills in each of her quilt designs, with quilt math being one of her favorite elements to pattern writing.

Cheryl is an active member of the Greenville Modern Quilt Guild and is also very involved with the online quilting community. She has taught modern quilt design, sewing and quilting techniques, and computer-aided quilt design across the country to guilds and at national quilt shows.

Cheryl has won numerous awards for her quilts and designs and has been featured on the Moda Bake Shop, in Modern Quilts Unlimited, Quiltmaker, Modern Patchwork, Make Modern, and Quilty, and in QuiltCon and other international quilt shows. Cheryl's first book Modern Plus Sign Quilts (Stash 2018), co-authored with Paige Alexander, explored her love of the traditional plus sign block.
