Amanda Murphy

Amanda Murphy

Always attracted to color, texture, and pattern, Amanda Murphy has been designing, drawing, and sewing since she was a child. After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in design from Carnegie Mellon University, she worked as a graphic designer and artdirector in Alexandria, Virginia, and in New York City. After moving to North Carolina with her family, Amanda discovered quilting, an art that marriesher passion for design with her enthusiasm for handwork. As she gradually expanded her knowledge of quilting techniques and combined them with the ideas she had been sketching over the years, Amanda Murphy Design was born.

Amanda markets her own pattern line under the Amanda Murphy Design label and has designed several fabric collections, most recently for Benartex. This is her fourth book for C&T Publishing, following Modern HolidayColor Essentials, and Free-Motion Quilting Idea Book. Amanda is also a BERNINA quilting and longarm spokesperson and teaches quilting classes on Craftsy (craftsy.com). Visit the author at amandamurphydesign
