Victoria Findlay Wolfe

Victoria Findlay Wolfe, painter, photographer, and quilter, was raised on a farm in rural Minnesota. She learned to sew and quilt when she was four years old. Her grandmother and mother were quilters, and her father, a farmer, also had an upholstery business. Victoria graduated from the College of Visual Arts with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1993. A year later, she arrived in New York City.

After some success as a painter, she discovered quilting blogs, returned to quilting, and started receiving commissions. Seeking the company of other quilters, she founded her blog, bumblebeansinc.blogspot To satisfy a response to her creative philosophy, she started her teaching site, 15minutesplay

Victoria began an outreach program for a housing project in the South Bronx, New York, through which hundreds of quilts have been made and donated from quilters worldwide (see bumblebeansbasics). In addition, 60 quilts were auctioned to raise more than $30,000 for the Acacia Network (formerly BASICS/ Promesa).

Victoria is currently the president of the New York Metro Mod Quilt Guild and a member of New York City Empire Quilters and Minnesota Quilt Guild. She is also on the board of directors for the Alliance of American Quilts. Victoria lives in Manhattan with her husband, Michael Findlay, an art dealer, and their daughter, Beatrice.
