Amanda Niederhauser grew up at the side of her mother’s sewing machine, playing with buttons, spools, and zippers. As a child and teenager, she sewed pillows, shorts, scrunchies, and stuffed cats. It wasn’t until she graduated college and moved to Virginia that quilting became her first love.
It was through trial and error that she taught herself to quilt, relying on books for information. She often tried to recreate quilts she saw in books and stores, and this early training of making her own quilt patterns helped her develop a love for quilt design and patternmaking. Always inspired by fabric, she designs quilts for her blog, magazines, and her Etsy shop.
Most days Amanda can be found at her Southern California home in her sewing studio with her cat, Mufasa. Amanda has an extremely patient husband, David, and three adorable children, Ella, Ryan, and Sally.
