Embroidered Ornaments

Stitch a sweet motif onto a mini wooden hoop frame to make an embroidered ornament (perfect for gift toppers too). This project is as sweet as it is relaxing; you are sure to unwind as you choose your favorite colors to stitch. At Handmade Holiday Baazar, you’ll have the chance to ask embroidery artist Aimee Ray all the embroidery questions you’ve always wanted to ask while stitching alongside her and fellow students. By the end of the session, you will have personalized ornaments to gift your loved ones.

Wool Hand-Appliqué Pillow

Wool hand-appliqué pillows make sweet heirlooms and add warmth to any room. Becky Goldsmith of Piece O' Cake Designs will teach you wool hand-appliqué techniques as she shows you how to make a lumbar pillow featuring festive birds on a branch from her latest book, Birds in Toyland. From creating templates and overlays to stitching the bird on a branch to sewing the pillow closed, you will learn essential Wool hand-appliqué skills you can use for future projects.

Elevate the classic holiday card with fun stitches and threads of your choice. Personalized, unique hand-stitched holiday cards are perfect for sending thoughtful messages to special people in your life. Starting with a printed panel, adored instructor Christina Cameli will demonstrate trimming, preparing, and stitching a card. She shows you every step of the process, and you are welcome to stitch along.

A perfect gift for all doll lovers, this Sugar n’ Spice Doll Apron is charming and relatively simple to make. Erin Hentzel of Avery Lane Designs teaches a method to create perfect fabric gathers and how to make straps and waist ties effortlessly with a no-turn technique. Erin will show you how to add simple embellishments for additional apron styles. The pattern fits dolls 15-18 inches in height.

Paper Piece a Santa Square

Foundation paper piecing is a patchwork technique that allows you to create pictures with small pieces of fabric. It lets you sew those small pieces easily and accurately while being quick at the same time. Ingrid Alteneder of Joe, June & Mae will show you all the steps you’ll need to complete the Santa block and create a festive pillow.

Festive Art Quilts with Hand Embroidery

Surround your tiny fabric home with a wreath of poinsettia flowers, a Star of David, or resting on a fabric snowflake. Fiber artist Laura Wasilowski shows you how to transfer and assemble the pattern shapes for each fused art quilt. Laura will also demonstrate a few hand embroidery stitches and discuss finishing techniques. The result is three art quilts to decorate your home this holiday season.

Flower earrings are fun to make in any color, size, and texture you want. With so many different possibilities, you’ll want to make all the colors of the rainbow! Polymer clay artist Lauren Tomlinson will walk you through the basics of forming flowers and what you can do with them. Flowers can be added to a slab of clay and then cut out in different shapes, they can stand alone as stud earrings, or you can make large flowers to hang on hoops. You will end the class having made a pair of daisy studs, pair of poppies on hoops, and understanding the basics of building a flower slab.

O’ Christmas Tree Table Runner

As people gather in your home, the kitchen table can serve as a welcoming piece and create a warm ambiance with candles, flowers, and (most of all) a showstopping table runner. Avid quilter Lee Chappell Monroe walks you through everything from fabric selection to cutting to stitching and finishing. You’ll gain insight into all the details to accurately cut and piece triangles and how to accurately cut and piece strips to create scrappy trees. Lee talks you through the best quilting options and finishing tips to create a festive holiday table runner. The runner can easily be adjusted to fit your table perfectly; you can also select winter colors for a runner that can grace your table for the snow season.

Hand-Dyed Gifts and Stocking Stuffers

Elevate t-shirts, cloth napkins, socks, and more with hand-dyeing. All your favorite colors combine in the most beautiful way and in fun patterns, only achieved through various hand-dyeing techniques. Fiber artist and teacher Lynn Koolish will show you how to make hand-dyeing a breeze. You will learn how to use Procion dyes for ice dying and general dyeing. You will feel confident to take on most dye projects after the workshop.

Enchanting Angel Tree Topper

Your friends and family won’t believe you made this enchanted tree topper. Ramune Jauniskis is a well-loved New England fiber artist known for her whimsical fairy-inspired 3D works of art. Using a relatively easy process, she walks you through making this beautifully finished topper, which you can also use as a table centerpiece. This lesson will include: making a fabric sandwich using Fast2Fuse, making, stuffing, and decorating the top of the Angel, and adding the final embellishments.

Winter Wonderland DIY Candle

Then, take your candle to the next level by incorporating candle appliqués to decorate the container. YouTuber and business owner Tiana Coats will guide you through the ins and outs of candles, answering your questions along the way.
