"I love the idea of 50 different flowers that you intermix to make your own style of quilt. I especially like the photo that shows four of the same flower in a block to get a whole different look. I don't do a lot of machine applique but with this book I might try to make them because most of the flower pieces are big and would seem to be a little easier to machine applique around than if it was a more intricate flower. "Fun, whimsical, and light hearted, are all words that describe Kim Schaefer’s folk-art style, appliqué flower blocks. Directions for nine projects are described in the book. The book is very straight forward and to the point. All the appliqué designs fit an eight inch block and can be mixed and matched to create even more quilts beyond those suggested in the book. Kim likes using fusible appliqué and also gives advice on appliqué thread colors to use. The book’s layout makes it fun to flip through and the projects are a feast for the eyes. The patterns are easy to read and understand. Material listings and cutting directions are clear and easy to follow. If you are looking to add a little bit of flower to your life, this may be the book for you."
