Boy moms get the green light with Angela Yosten’s new book, Stop. Go Quilt. Sew! The twelve traffic themed sewing projects are spot on for boys of all ages. Angela, a mom to a boy and a girl, explains in the introduction that the lack of fun things to sew for boys was the inspiration for this book. My favorite projects include the Route 66 t-shirt, Stop Sign wall art (30” x 30”), Do Not Enter messenger bag, and Traffic Light quilted wall hanging (42” x 62”.)The scrap applique method she uses with the projects gives her design depth. Plus, as she points out, burns up scraps. The book’s instructions are easy to follow, but are not exhaustive. Sewers should have some previous experience.

It's one of the most common questions  we hear about sewing projects, "Why aren't there more projects for boys?!" Our friend, Angela Yosten has come to the rescue with a new book that has 12 great projects, each with a personalized traffic sign/signal theme.

Review   Library Journal - October 15, 2012
Yosten's transportation-themed designs were inspired by her son's love of toy cars - and the lack of quilting and sewing projects appropriate for boys. Each prject uses a scrap applique technique that incorporates strips of scrap fabric (or, optionally, pre-cut strips) and fusible web. There's plenty of variety, including home decor items as well as quilts, a Route 66-inspired T-shirt, and a sleeping bag. VERDICT: Like the road signs they emulate, Yosten's designs are bold and graphic, and projects targeted to school-age and teen boys are a rarity in the quilting world. These designs aren't just for boys, though - the techniques and styles used could easily be adapted for a variety of modern scrap applique projects.

A perfect concept for little and big guys. Stop. Go. Quilt. Sew by Angela Yosten is full of perfect projects for big and little guys. There are 12 total – big-size quilts, pillows, shirts and even a messenger bag – all using a “traffic” theme with lots of road signs. Stop, speed limits, no u-turns, do not enter and slow are all so appropriate for fast-paced, car-loving boys of all ages. What a clever concept! Any ne mom or grandmom will enjoy using this book to make special gifts for that special guy.
