Review   British Patwork & Quilting - June 1, 2008
“This is a small spiral bound book that opens flat, and stays open while you work from it. It is packed with step by photos and diagrams to make nine easy blocks and then turn them into a sampler quilt. It discusses everything you might need to know when you first set out to make a quilt from choosing the fabric to making the binding and a label. Along the way the book has plenty of handy hints, tips and techniques to make your quilt-making easier. Although not specifically aimed at the younger market this is an ideal introduction to making a quilt for all ages.”

"How cool! When our local Joann's reopened last month as a superstore..., M’Liss Rae Hawley came as part of the grand opening...she is a quilter, designer, author, lecturer, and instructor...And my daughters and I got the chance to see her and meet her!...I got the opportunity to talk with her a bit, and to ask her some questions. It was an awesome experience...She of course took an interest in the girls. I mean, how many 10- and 12-year-olds do you know that sew and quilt? She encouraged them to keep up the quilting, and she recommended her beginner’s level quilting book to them...I was honored!"
