"This book is definitely written for fabric artists, but it's an excellent primer for paper crafters looking to experiment. I really like C&T's Fast Fun & Easy series because I'm not always looking to kill a whole weekend -- quite often, I need to make something quick and simple for a last-minute house-warming or hostess gift. I don't consider myself a stitcher (something my saggging trouser hems can attest to), but I want to be part of the current clock-making fad. In addition to the Getting Started, Basics, and Finishing chapters, there are complete step-by-steps to make six different types of clocks. There's a lot of traditional style here, but use your imagination to go fresh and funky!"

"I review books often and sadly most books out are take offs on old ideas. I seldom see something really exciting and original so when I do I want to share it.

I recently had the pleasure to examine a new book on the market that instructs readers on how to create fabric clocks entitled Creative Fabric Clocks: Six timely Techniques for Fabric and Paper by Lynn Koolish. My first impression was cautious excitement. Fabric Clocks are a new concept for me that have some real potential for creative expression.

Ms. Koolish did a great job in showing how to use our photos and fabric to make wonderful additions to any room. What I liked the best about this book is that it is made for everyone. It is not in any way only for the master. It is a real book for real people.

I was not disappointed. What a great idea. The book is filled with different techniques to either recreate or use as a starting off point for your own fabulous ideas. For each of the designs they give step-by-step directions that create some pieces of art for your home or gift giving. The idea that you can personalize the clock to the recipient is great. Not only can you make clocks for your own home that are the envy of the neighborhood, think in terms of that person who has everything or is very hard to buy for.

What do you buy for the teen that only wants to play basketball? He has what he needs and wants. Why not make him a clock all about basketball? What about the aunt who doesn’t have any hobbies but you happen to know she likes a particular color or animal?

I love the potential this book opens up. Check it out for yourself at C & T Publishing."

Guide Rating: 4-1/2 Stars

"This book is full of creative ways to construct personalized clocks using fabric, paper, or both together. While knowing basic sewing and quilting techniques are helpful for making some of the clocks in this book, it is not mandatory and they are a great way to learn these techniques making smaller projects. Not only would the projects in this book make personalized household decor, they would also make fabulous gifts.

* Soft-cover book with 48 jam-packed pages plus a pull-out pattern section.
* Easy to understand directions and helpful colored photos.
* Directions to help you make 6 specific clocks plus many more variations.

With the instructions and projects provided in this book, you can make unique clocks for every room in your house. You can create clocks using fabric, paper, quilt blocks, photo transfers, buttons, trims, and more. The best part is these clock projects really are, as the book title indicates, fast fun, and easy.

Keeping with the format of the Fast, Fun & Easy series of books, this book has great tips and hints scattered throughout it. These highlighted boxes offer fast hints, fun alternatives, and easy suggestions. These features, along with the easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions and colored photos, make your clock crafting experience more pleasurable and creative!

Besides being functional, the projects shared in this book are fun and versatile. They are all so unique that picking one favorite is nearly impossible. I love the dimensional, layered clocks and also the shaped clicks. There are so many possibilities that you too will probably have a hard time finding just one favorite."
