"This is a book that explores every aspect of machine arts--from choosing a machine, setting up a studio around it, to using it for beading, bobbinwork, buttonholes, chenille, couching, crazy quilting, cutwork, embroidery, eyelets, free-motion quilting, hemstitching, lacemaking, monograms, pintucks, ribbonwork, satin stitching, serging, smocking, shisha, trapunto work, and tucks. And that's just a short list.
The book is a compendium of tips and techniques, along with project ideas, compiled by experts in machine arts. It's arranged into six sections, and includes a stitch dictionary of common machine decorative stitches. Other sections cover how to choose a machine and set up a studio around your new machine... There is a helpful section on threads (has everybody but me known about thread lubricants until now?) and one on all kinds of tools--including every kind of scissors you can imagine... Much of the book is arranged alphabetically, with topics such as ribbon, stitching, vintage stitching and "waste not" all neatly organized under their signature letter of the alphabet."
