Review   SewCalGal blog - October 18, 2011
"CT Publishing will soon release"Modern Quilting Designs: 90+ Free-Motion Inspirations, Add Texture & Style to Your Next Quilt", by Bethany Nicole Pease. I had the pleasure of seeing an Advanced Reading Copy and wanted to share insights with you. Bethany is a longarm quilter that enjoys free-motion quilting (FMQ). This is her first book and she shares insights on how she is inspired by the world around us to create FMQ designs. Pebbles, waves, vines, flowers, ferns, a pattern on a friend's shirt, etc. can inspire a quilting design. Designs are shared in a doodling art form that are grouped in appropriate and fun sections: The Essentials: Freehand Background Fillers Doodle Away: Continuous Line Designs Showstoppers: Unusual, Fancy Continuous-Line Designs Nature's Patterns: Feathers, Ferns, Vines and Leaves Dynamic Focal Points: Medallions and Borders Mix It Up: Design Combinations This book is 112 pages full of fun doodling art that would make beautiful free-motion quilting designs. This book is going to be an excellent source of inspiration and reference for intermediate level free-motion quilters. It will also be a good source for those with advanced skills interested in inspirational designs that ideas to integrate them into a quilt. For beginning free-motion quilters, this may not be the best book for you, until you have learned the basics and gained enough confidence to look at a design and be able to stitch it out on your own. To clarify, this is not a technique book that would be a better source for beginners. This book will be available for shipment in December 2011 and will be appearing in your local quilt shops in early 2012. CT Publishing is now accepting pre-orders for this book.

Review   Machine Quilting Unlimited - March 1, 2012
Bethany's black and white sketchbook of free motion designs offers attractive and fun ideas for quilting borders, blocks and fillers. Finding her inspiration in the natural world, the lines of man-made structures, decorative art and even in unique pieces of jewelry, she offers over 90 different designs that can be used on their own or in combinations to add texture and style to your quilts.

Review   Modern patchwork - April 17, 2012
"If you're looking to perk up your free-motion machine quilting, or hoping to expand your knowledge of free-motion stitching motifs, look no further than Modern Quilting designs. Auther Bethany Pease shares a wealth of designs, many of them continuous line, to help you stitch out everything from vines and patterns inspired by nature to more traditional stitch variations featuring feathers. Although this book does not offer page after pafe of full-color quilts featuring Pease's designs, it does give the playful impression of peering insdie a quilt artist's personal sketchbook-which it is, and it is this characteristic that makes it so fresh and fun. All in all, this is an inspiring title for those who revel in the possibilities of free-motion quilting."

Review By: Sherri Bain Driver,   McCall's Quilting - July 1, 2012
Working at McCall's Quilting, I get to see lots of new books. I was thirilled with Modern Quilting Designs by Bethany Pease arrived. The pages are full of fresh and playful quilting designs that look as if they're hand-drawn on the pages. The message here is to have fun and enjoy the process without worrying about perfection. No marking needed for these designs...just practice a bit, sketching on paper, and enjoy the fun of "drawing" on your quilt as you stitch.
