"...gives ideas for special quilts that can be made as personal gifts for people or sold to raise funds for a cause. Ideas include lap quilts for wheelchair users, quilts for hospitalized babies, a quilted bed shawl and a game board quilt.
The "fidget" quilt can be covered with photos, textured fabrics, beads and raised embellishments and is designed to stimulate sensory functions for people with brain impairments or Alzheimer's disease.
Finch's book also serves as a resource guide for quilters and quilting groups, listing several organizations that will take donations of quilts and suggesting ways to organize a large-scale effort to make charity quilts."

"I recently purchased ”Comfort Quilts from the Heart” and love that you took the time to put these types of projects into a book.  In fact I made the shawl for my Aunt who is currently fighting lung cancer.  While it’s hard for me to understand in the middle of summer how you can need an extra layer; she is sure enjoying it. Thank you from Minnesota!"

“…This is a great book to help to help guide you through the process of making comfort quilts and other projects with inspiration and thoughtfulness…If your guild doesn't have this book in its library, shame on it and on you for not picking one up to donate! Should you but this book? Yup. You never know when you or someone else is going to need it!”

"One good resource is Jake Finch’s new book, Comfort Quilts From The Heart. Included in the book are '12 quick projects to take care of others.' Patterns are given for wheelchair quilts, quilted bed shawl with pockets and a walker bag as well as quilts meeting other specific needs.
The book also includes guidelines for groups making quilts, a resource guide for 'Who Needs the Help?' and a section about fundraising with quilts featuring both Fiberart For a Cause and Ami Simm’s Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative.
In addition to the nationwide organizations accepting donations, why not think globally, but act locally? There are always local nursing homes, VA hospitals, hospitals, rehab centers, etc. who need quilts and other items made from fabric that can really make a difference in the daily lives of those in need..."

"Lots of Comfort and Lots of Heart in this Great Book! Comfort Quilts from the Heart is a beautiful and inspiring book filled with a dozen fun projects. I can hardly wait to stitch up a couple! The instructions and photos are clear and inviting, and author's witty writing style and touching stories make it a great read, too."
