Review   Quilter's World - August 1, 2007
"Jane Hall has long been an expert on the subject of foundation piecing. Jane brings together a group of star-studded quilters who share their hints and a design or two in this wonderful book. If you ever wondered how Carol Bryer Fallert creates all those curving and undulating designs, wonder no more. She tells all in her section of the book. Judy Mathieson's technically challenging, pieced, curved designs seem impossible, but with her perforated freezer-paper foundations she has made precision piecing possible for all of us. Cynthia England says her landscape quilts look scary to her, too, but they aren't, or so she says. She uses freezer paper in a whole new way. It's all there in this book with step-by-step photos. These three designers are just the tip of the iceberg, but their information alone is worth the price of the book. Have fun learning more about foundation piecing from the group of experts in this great book."

Review   Sewing World - April 1, 2008
"A book for the quilter with some experience, this primer on different techniques assumes some basic patchwork knowledge. After a brief history of foundation piecing, 15 well-known quilters each explain their own approach to foundation piecing accompanied by a demonstration project. A wide variety of techniques are covered, beginning with top pressed piecing, i.e., as in crazy piecing. Carol Doak and Barbara Barber use the underpressing method, i.e., sewing on the printed side of the foundation. Judy Mathieson uses freezer paper to stabilise her block but does not sew through the paper. Ruth B. McDowell and Caryl Bryer Fallert use single template piecing to produce curved lines. Containing a wealth of information, this book is an excellent example of the generosity of quilters to share their knowledge and ideas. All of the projects are clearly explained and well photographed. An outstanding book which I recommend as my choice this month."
