Peggy Martin

Peggy Martin

Peggy Martin has been fascinated by the quilting world since she began quilting in 1981. A quilting teacher since 1985, she became interested in developing and teaching quicker techniques that produce great designs in a fraction of the time. Her first book, Quick-Strip Paper Piecing, applied a strip-pieced assembly-line approach to paper piecing, revolutionizing and greatly speeding up the process.

Working with color and experimenting with new color combinations and unusual fabrics are some of her trademarks. Her exploration of different design possibilities continues to guide her in discovering new ways to expand on tradition. Her enthusiastic students are inspired to explore their own expressions in both color and design.

Peggy Martin was named 2010 Quilt Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Professional Quilters (IAPQ). Martin was nominated for the award by her students in recognition of her quality teaching and the enthusiasm she generates for quiltmaking.

Peggy was born in Ohio and has lived in Southern California since 1970. She has a degree in music and plays piano, guitar, and harp when she isn't quilting, teaching, or traveling. She lives in San Diego and is married with two grown sons.
