Kristyne Czepuryk

Kristyne Czepuryk's thinks her life is a cliche.

She married her high school sweetheart, enjoyed a short career before becoming a stay-at-home mom and her favorite color is pink.

Adding to her rather ordinary biography, she survived the usual hardships of being a middle child and took piano lessons; she was a Girl Guide (she's Canadian, by the way), participated in assorted recreational sports (at which she did badly) and learned to work with a needle and thread from her mother and aunt. She preferred creative activities - sewing, crafting, scrapbooking... and still does.

After earning an English degree, she went back to school, got a public relations diploma and became employable. However, her first real job required her to do things like on camera interviews - as in "Live at 5, film at 11." She figured out pretty fast that she was so not cut out for that. She found something behind the scenes, writing manuals - the computer, policy, procedure, and training type. ... (yawn). Before she had time to find something else that satisfied her creativity, however, she became a mom. Twice.

Then something happened. She made herself a pretty diaper bag - without a pattern. Then she made another. And another. She didn't realize it at the time, but she was becoming a pattern designer.

Today she calls herself a wife, mom, pattern designer/writer, teacher, blogger and owner of a little sewing pattern business called "Pretty by Hand". You can find her patterns and blog at prettybyhand.com.
