Lisa Walton

Lisa Walton

Lisa Walton has been quilting for more than twenty years. Her first quilt was a disaster because she didn't realize that all the templates needed an additional 1/4" seam allowance. Not the best start for a Mariner's Compass quilt! However, she returned to quilting many years later when a friend helped her make a quilt from charm squares (it ultimately ended up as a dog quilt). Today, Lisa's award-winning quilts have been published in many magazines.

Lisa's passion for hand-dyed fabric was inspired by the serendipitous nature of the fabrics she began dyeing. With her husband, Peter, she started a business called Dyed & Gone to Heaven, which now produces a rainbow of fabric colors and styles.

She continues to develop her quilt style and now includes textures and surface design techniques with her hand-dyed fabrics as well as commercial fabrics to create unique, colorful quilts.

Lisa's love of teaching has taken her all over the world. In 2010 she was awarded the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for Quilting Teachers by the International Quilt Association in Houston, Texas.

Lisa lives in Sydney, Australia, with her long-suffering husband and more fabric than she will ever use.
