Lenka Vodicka

Lenka Vodicka grew up playing in the pine forests around Nevada City and Grass Valley in northern California. She studied literature and creative writing at the University of California in Santa Cruz. Later, she earned a teaching credential and master of fine arts degree in creative writing. In 1999, she and her husband moved back to the pine forest so she could teach at the Nevada City School of the Arts (a K-8 public charter school). There she met Asia Currie, and the rest is history. She and Asia love sewing and knitting with their students. They created a handwork curriculum that is whimsical and fun for children of all ages. Lenka was enchanted by fairies. She soon crafted fairies for friends’ birthdays and baby showers. She even made wedding cake toppers! Lenka now shares Fairyland with her family - Giovanni, Anika, and Ian; her two cats, Lucy and Tiger; and her bunny, Pumpkin.
