Professional craft designer Ann Krier specializes in original, eclectic designs using fiber art techniques. A seamstress since age 10, she has always enjoyed all forms of art and craft. Her current interests lie in finding new and exciting ways to incorporate not-so-traditional materials, such as loose mill fibers, Tyvek, paper, sheet metal, foils, and recycled materials, into her project designs. As a material-based designer and owner of Design One World Inc., it is her goal to produce fun and unique ideas to share with her students and readers. She believes that understanding the materials helps each artist develop to his or her full creative potential.
Originally from upstate New York, Ann has been an executive, a kitchen designer, a manufacturer's representative, and a certified food service professional in the commercial appliance industry. She regularly applies her business experience in sales and marketing, and associated material practice to her designs. Ann belongs to the American Sewing Guild, Associated Artists, Craft & Hobby Association, and the Society of Craft Designers. She is a graduate of Muskingum College and a veteran of more than 200 hours of hands-on creative workshops.
Ann lives in the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina with her husband, Jim and busy family. She is the mother of four "children" Mike, Brett, Maggie Sue, and "Murphy." In addition to creative endeavors, Ann enjoys skiing, camping, biking, and kayaking and marvels at the music of Jimmy Buffett.
Most warm, sunny days, you will find her in the pool, playing games with the other children. Other days, you will find her "glued" to one of her design projects and the computer, surrounded by a a pile of "art stuff."
