Product Safety Certification

C&T Publishing, Inc. is committed to publishing and manufacturing products that are safe for all consumers. We strive to ensure that all products manufactured by C&T Publishing, Inc. comply with all applicable product safety rules and regulations.

There has been a great deal of confusion surrounding the new CPSIA but it is important to understand that according to the General Counsel of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) interpreting the CPSIA of 2008:

Children's products intended or designed primarily for children 12 & under are subject to all of the new rules...Lead, Phthalates, etc.

According to our attorneys, the CPSIA lead limits of section 101 do not apply to ordinary books intended for readers of all ages, including children. By definition those books are not intended or designed primarily for children. Therefore, those books do not need a General Conformity Certification for lead content and do not require third-party testing of any kind.

At C&T Publishing, Inc. we will be testing and labeling any of our products that could be interpreted as being intended or designed primarily for children or interpreted as a children's toy and supplying General Conformity Certificates (GCC) for each product we test. Downloadable pdf's of these certificates are available below.

C&T will be implementing the following types of labels on our products: Age Apprioriate Warning; Small Parts Warning; Sharp Points and Edges Warning; Small Parts & Sharp Points & Edges Warning.

Here are a few examples of C&T products and how to interpret whether the product falls under the new CPSIA regulations:
