Show that you care with a quilt

Posted by Lynn Merrill on Oct 20th 2014

It's October, and that means it's breast cancer awareness month. According to the National Cancer Institute, there are a total of 232,670 (female) and 2,360 (male) people with breast cancer this year alone.

These statistics hit very close to home this year when Amy, our publisher was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's very difficult when someone you care about is going through such a trying time, but you can always show that you care. To lift Amy up, we all pitched in to give her one big hug in the form of a cozy quilt.

"We used fabric that we knew Amy really loved. It was a true group effort with many people making blocks and helping to do the binding. And Ruthmary did the quilting. With so many people contributing to the effort, we were able to make it very quickly and Amy used it after her chemo treatments which she found really comforting. Lots of love and positive thoughts went into the quilt." -Lynn Koolish, Developmental Editor
