Introducing True Blue Quilts

Introducing True Blue Quilts

Posted by Annette Plog on Mar 29th 2017

Hello! My name is Annette Plog, and I have a passion for quilts.  True Blue Quilts was written to give the reader a little history of blue textiles throughout the 19 th century, as well as inspiration to create their own blue quilts.

Reproducing antique quilts from the 1800s can be a challenge, but it is also very rewarding. I love hunting for just the right reproduction fabrics to help me create a quilt that is as close as possible to the original antique. A little bit of history and examples of reproduction fabrics can help you in your quest!

But don't worry, this book is not just history. True Blue Quilts features fifteen quilt projects that represent patterns and blue fabrics from the 19th century. The projects range from simple beginner quilts to more challenging projects for the experienced quilter. There are small wallhangings, lap-size quilts, and some large bed quilts. Some quilts are soft, warm, and traditional where others are bright, striking, and have a more modern look.

Each chapter covers a specific time period and features the blue fabrics of that time. I hope this book encourages you to learn a little about the history of blue fabrics and inspires you to design and create your own heirlooms. I hope you will enjoy True Blue Quilts and always remember to choose blue!
