How the Orbit Quilt became an eco-tote at C&T

Orbit Quilt

C&T asked me to do a guest post about my orbit quilt as an eco tote, so I wanted to share with you a photo montage of how I witnessed that process. It's much simpler than the actual process of course, and the designers at C&T who make it happen are to be applauded (they make it look so easy)!! Above is my finished Orbit Quilt (37" x 37") which I designed while living in Mexico. It captured the colors of my vibrant surroundings.

Orbit Quilt is featured in We Love Color, a fabulous book filled with quilts made by 16 designers who used only Kona Solids.

Some of the quilts at C&T/Stash Books are made into other cool products such as journals, cards, umbrellas, pens and gift wrap because us quilters love to show the world what we do inside our sewing rooms. We love to share what we are passionate about by toting around a bag with a quilt on it, wrapping a gift for a friend or signing a check with a designer pen.

Bonus point is that the tote is made of 100% recycled plastic! C&T is a green company and this one of the many ways that they care about our environment.

A quilt becomes more when printed on a eco-tote. It becomes a durable, everyday statement as we make our way to the market to fill it with food, carry our quilts to the guild, towels to the beach and yes, even RISK to the local diner where we might spend a long summer afternoon with the boys battling over who takes over the world; quilter or kid?

C&T has over 15 totes of different shapes and sizes that represent all kinds of quilts. What I really appreciate is that the styles range from traditional to modern, patchwork to appliqué. There is one for every quilter on your list as they are affordable and allow you to make a real statement! I always keep a few in the back of my car for the grocery store, and often get a compliment from the check out person or another shopper on how colorful my bags are….And those are quilts?

Another favorite new tote design pictured above is by Kathy Doughty called Uzbek Patches.
